Gallery: 2010 Ford Mustang Revealed
DESCRIPTION:
After many months of teaser pictures (showing very closeup shots of many parts of the car), Ford has finally released real images of the highly anticipated 2010 Mustang. While the styling is still very much a throwback to the older Mustangs, they have updated it with some additional bulges and flares and a new front and rear fascia. My first reaction to the updated styling: it looks like it got smaller. There has not been any word on the new car's weight and since cars generally get heavier with every generation, we will just have to wait to find out.
The interior has also been updated and now looks much more luxurious than the car it will replace. There is now plush looking leather with heavy stitching covering the seats, suede material covering some of the door paneling, and more
alluminum trim in general. One interesting interior bit that I noticed is the backlit "Mustang" logo on the kickplates.
What about the most important part of a muscle car like this? The GT trim will return with a 4.6L V8 engine producing 315 horsepower and 325 ft-lb of torque. An interesting feature that they've added is a diversion of the exhaust sound directly into the cabin so that drivers and passengers will be able to enjoy the car's sound more directly. Of course, the base version V6 will also make a return, with the exact same motor this time around. Rumors of the turbocharged V6 have not been fleshed out and will likely make a debut in 2011 as a trim level between the base and GT.
