DESCRIPTION:
What the Europeans call the Honda Accord, we Americans call the 2009 Acura TSX. The new model is noticeable larger than the previous model, but not much heavier. The 2009 model starts around $29,000 and is 3 inches wider and 2.2 inches longer. Its wheelbase and track increase by 1.4 and 2.6 inches, respectively. The extra 160lbs are worth the larger body and cabin space. The leather seats, Bluetooth integration, iPod functionality, and sporty seats make up the fine standard interior. Additional options include a navigation system with traffic compatibility, custom sound system (designed by Elliot Scheiner) including 10 speakers, and extra XM radio functions. Powered by a 2.4L 201horsepower 4-cylinder engine, the TSX boats enough power to burst the heavier 2009 model out of corners. The TSX will be available with six-speed manual transmission or 5-speed automatic transmission. This front-wheel drive American TSX has a sportier suspension than its European twin. The newer, bolder look is highlighted by the bold grill seen on Acura’s Advanced Sedan and Coupe Concept vehicles. While it might not compare to the Lexus’ IS350 in terms of sharp appearance, it provides a much needed improvement from the conservative 2008 Acura TSX. The 21/30 fuel economy is stellar for this upscale sports sedan. Overall, Acura has created a great package of sportiness, handling, and fuel efficiency.
