The rejuvenated 2008 Ford Taurus steps back into Ford’s lineup as the large family sedan. While its looks are primitive at best, Ford claimed to have made over 200 improvements on the newest rendition of the “rental car” Taurus. A powerful 263 horsepower V6 engine allows for 249 ft-lb of torque and gives the Taurus a kick in the right direction. The Taurus comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission standard so all your family members can take the Taurus around town. Stability control, combined with available all-wheel drive (front-wheel drive standard), improves the feel of driving this large sedan. Both 17” and 18” wheels are available depending on the selected trim. Anti-lock brakes and traction control come standard, along with front and side-impact curtain airbags. Perfect 5-star safety ratings from the NHTSA prove that Ford has created one of the safest sedans on the road. Optional features include moonroof, navigation, rear-seat DVD entertainment system, XM satellite radio, and Microsoft-Ford Sync multimedia integration system. Fuel efficiency is estimated at a decent 18/28 and 17/24 miles per gallon for the front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models, respectively. Stay hydrated by loading up all 8 cup holders. The advantage of the Taurus’ long body really shows in the cabin where legroom is very generous. While the Taurus may not have undergone the styling changes we all hoped for, its other improvements (most notable the power increase) make up for any previous shortcomings.
