Gallery: Jeep SRT 8 - Transmission Failure
DESCRIPTION:
This Jeep SRT 8 was supposedly running with over 900 horsepower to the rear wheels. While it was being moved around in the parking lot, the transmission failed in a spectacular way, literally grenading and spraying parts everywhere including the interior.
In the pictures, we can see how the parts tore through the chassis and destroyed the interior. The pictures came from Modern Muscle forums and the poster said that no one was hurt except the passenger's laptop. After exploding into pieces, the transmission fluid caught on fire after coming into contact with the headers. Fortunately, there was a fire suppression system in place and it was quickly extinguished.
The transmission was an upgraded unit that was rated for 1200 horsepower, which the engine was probably making at the crank.
