Gallery: Mercury Sable
DESCRIPTION:
What used to be the Mercury Montego has now transformed into the 2008 Mercury Sable, an upscale version of the Ford Taurus. The Sable is blessed to have better looks than the ever-conservative Grand Marquis and provides a much better overall package. The Sable has a more stylish body, better insulated cabin, and more standard safety features that have helped earn the Sable higher safety ratings. The extra-large rear seating area provides incomparable comfort for a large family of 5. It is also worth noting that the Sable’s truck also provides adequate cubic footage. Unlike some sportier sedans on the road (Lexus IS250, Pontiac G6), the Sable has large windows all-around that allow for great driver-visibility. The available all-wheel drive, coupled with the 260 horsepower (up from 203) V6 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission, helps improve handling and all-around driving experience. The Premier trim of the Sable features 18” wheels, leather seating, power-adjustable passenger seating, dual-zone climate control, heated mirrors, and a 6-disc CD changer. The optional moonroof, navigation, and rear-seat entertainment system are a bit pricey for such a bland car, but might provide enough spark to capture what you’re looking for in a family sedan.
