Do you love fast supercars and hot and steamy women driving them on fast and curvy racetracks and and and……hot desert terrain….? Well you are in luck, cause that’s exactly what is in this Webridestv exclusive.
Lisa Gleave gives us an in depth look at the new Ferrari F430 while Dan Aspesi shows us what it can do at Willow Springs Raceway in Southern California. The Ferrari F430 is Ferrari’s attempt to build the ultimate car period.
Based on the 360 Modena, this F430 packs more of a punch and requires larger cooling ducts on the front airdam.
The retail on one of these bad boys is only a measly $170,000-227,000. How much bang do you get for that buck? Well, Dan pretty much sums it up. You get a newly developed Ferrari 4.3 liter V8 engine that was derived from a partnership between Ferrari and Maserati. The completely new power plant puts out a whopping 483 HP at 8500 rpm and a bone crushing 383 ft lb of torque at only 5250 rpm. Flat out, this thing will just about reach 200 mph!
A cool option Ferrari has for this super car is Carbon-Ceramic disc brakes. They offer much higher resistance to heat and brake fade than a conventional metal disc rotor. Ferrari swears that brake fade is not even apparent after 350 laps on their test track!
Alright lets get down to the nitty gritty. 0-60, 3.5 seconds. Not that big of a deal, until you realize that would make the 430 the third quickest Ferrari road car EVER! First and second place belong to the Enzo and 599 GTB. The electronically controlled limited slip differential combined with high tech goodies like launch control make standing starts a piece of cake.
Other versions of the 430 include the 430 Scuderia. This chassis is the successor to the 360 Stradale. It is a stripped out and basically balls to the wall race car that is street legal. They managed to remove 220 lbs from the car and increased the power to 503 HP. I have come to realize that Ferrari is very good at producing the ultimate car, but they are even better at making cars I can’t afford :)
