WebRidesTV was at the 2007 LA Auto Show this year, and no trip to the show is complete without stopping by the Callaway booth. Jessica Rayanne talked with Reeves Callaway, the Founder, and he showed off the Speedster; the top of the line custom car that Callaway offers.
The Speedster is a supercharged, 700HP, topless 2-seater that is devoid of anything to mar its beauty. No windshield, windows, side mirrors, or door handles on this ride. The one-piece rear trunk lid opens up to offer two Motorcycle helmets, as a precaution for any particles in the air getting into your eyes at high speed.
Technology sets the Speedster apart from other custom rides; touch sensitive panels allow the doors to open, while cameras replace the normal side mirrors. Even the rims are high-tech.
The rims are composite, and the lightest wheels in the world. The center is made of magnesium, while the hoop is made of carbon giving it an overall weight loss over alloys of 10lbs per corner. The Speedster is capable of 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and a 215mph top speed, making the Callaway Speedster a real speed demon.
