This WebRidesTV exclusive video starts off by introducing the history of the Gran Turismo series of games. This game franchise has been one of the most successful game franchises in history, boosting Playstation sales on every generation of the console. Kazunori Yamaguchi and Polphyony Digital have also designed the display system on the real life Nissan GT-R. Kazunori feels that the Ford GT is the best in the history of automobiles. Its body design is one of the biggest reasons why Kazunori feels this way. That is why we decided to pit the Ford GT against the Nissan GT-R in a real race.
Going off the car statistics, the Ford GT has the advantage in displacement, cylinders, horsepower, torque, top speed, and weight. The Nissan GT-R merely boasts a Dual Clutch Transmission and an All Wheel Drive system over the GT. Things don’t look too good for the GT-R .
The cars will be going head to head on WebRidesTV’s customized track that features a section with high speed lateral transitions, a fast slalom section, a tight decreasing radius turn, a straightaway that culminates in a tight hairpin turn that requires maximum braking.
The Ford GT is up first and runs through the course smoothly and posts a lap time of approximately 42 seconds. The GTR goes up next and posts a time of 43 seconds. While comparing the side by side videos of the Nissan GTR and Ford GT, it is clear that the acceleration of the Ford gives it a huge advantage on the long straightaways of this track configuration. On the slalom section and the maximum braking sections, the GTR is able to catch up to the Ford. However, the final acceleration portion is where the Ford GT walks away from the Nissan GT-R.
Our test driver, Craig Stanton still favors the Nissan GT-R in the end because of the new technology as well as the way it feels and drives. He feels that the Ford GT has a correct motor placement, suspension, and aerodynamics but the new school of design needs to be noticed.
