Jessyca takes us to the Porsche exhibit at the LA Auto Show to check out the Cayenne Hybrid. Jessyca interviews Chris Wall, the manager of media relations, from Porsche about the Cayenne Hybrid. According to Chris, the direction that Porsche takes with their vehicles is founded on performance and that's the expectation of their customer.
For the Cayenne, Porsche chose a parallel hybrid that fit well with the internals on the non-hybrid version of the car. The Cayenne can run on gas, electric or both simultaneously. Apparently, on a flat surface, the Cayenne Hybrid can sustain up to 75 miles per hour using just the batteries alone.
The engineers challenge for this car was to get to a 30% savings in fuel consumption and they've more than met this requirement. Even using 30% less fuel, the car will actually perform better than the full gas based version.
According to Porsche, they will first release the regular Cayenne and then release their full hybrid version shortly there after.
