In this edition of WebRidesTV’s visit to the 2007 LA Auto Show, the always beautiful and charming Jess interviewing Gene Brown (Suzuki’s Vice President of Marketing) about the SX4 WRC (World Rally Championship) car. Gene Brown discussed Suzuki’s image as an automobile manufacturer in the United States. He stated that though Suzuki is known as a performance and quality motorcycle manufacturer, their automotive image is anything but performance or quality. He said that the entry into WRC will hopefully change that ideal, much like what the WRC has done for Mitsubishi and Subaru. He then went on to explain that his company aims to appeal to the tuners and enthusiasts; well it looks like we have come to the right place!
Next we see the XL7 Hill Climb Special car. Suzuki’s XL7 actually broke the Pike’s Peak Hill Climb record. This car was presented to show that Suzuki really means business when it comes to performance.
Finally, Mr. Brown showed us the SX4 Makai Concept. This car features radical looks, functionality and utility, as it has everything from a surfboard carrier to a waterproofed interior. Overall, the concept was intended to portray Suzuki’s attitude and manufacturer’s philosophy when it comes to producing cars. I truly am looking forward to what Suzuki has to offer in the future, because it looks to me like they have the right stuff when it comes to inventive cars.
