Lauren Jones interviews Clauss Ettensberger, CEO of CEC Wheels, at the 2007 SEMA Show. Claus tells us about his CEC tuned Mercedes Benz SLR722. The car features trademark SLR Gullwing doors from the legendary 1955 Mercedes Gullwing. They make a big statement when you open a door that way, don't they.
Because this SLR McLaren is a limited production, you can't really do too much to the car. There are only 25 of these in the United States and 150 of them worldwide. In comparison they made 399 Ferrari Enzo's, so you know how rare this car really is.
Claus didn't want to do too much to the car besides showcase a set of new wheels. He really brought out the big guns for his new wheel line debut. The Mercedes Benz McLaren SLR is a tremendous vehicle and is as stiff as a formula 1 car.
The top speed is 230+ m.p.h. The wheels that adorn this vehicle are lightweight carbon fibre forged wheels. Claus himself owns the vehicle and considers it a collectors item, which is why he hasn't taken it past 180 mph. We'd like to join him on that trip, Lauren too.
