DESCRIPTION: WebRidesTv.com's Super Lap pits 2008 Corvette LS3 against a 2008 Audi R8. At almost half the price and a similar 0-60 time, can the 'Vette hold its own against the Audi?

Also, DRIFTSTER... you said "Everything about this comparison makes no sense.... The C6 out corners, out transitions, out brakes, out accels, is lighter and has more lateral and unjulating grip than the R8...This thing is just for the sheep who don't understand cars past their looks." Have you driven either the LS3 coupe or the R8? On what is this assertion made? Telemetry exists for both cars from the evaluation, which will be made availble. I'd like to know on what you base your opinion. And this isn't a comparison of price, cuz that's obvious. Certainly don't need for you to state that. You cried foul in an earlier post based on the Vette's superior performance (according to your assertion but not backed up by anything) but now you call foul based on price? Which is it? Plain and simple, this was a comparion between two cars that are pretty darn close on paper. And to YAMAHR1... it's mere conjecture... mere script written for entertainment purposes. I drove both cars and both were fun and capable. BUT... the Vette was assembled like any other domestic. The interior looked sloppy, made of cheap materials... and what's with the door button? Why not just put the levers on the floor on the door and get rid of that stupid button? I could go on and on about what I liked and didn't like about each vehicle, but at the end of the day, if you enjoy your vehicle, more power to you. But this wasn't about YOUR Vette. Agreed?

I actually kind of like the door button. Honestly, if the Audi had electric door releases would you be calling it out for criticism? Or would you be more prone to think, "oh, those clever Germans!" Anyway, I rented a C6 convertible in Vegas recently and put about 400 miles on it, and I can't say I agree with your characterization of "sloppy" and "cheap materials". Is the Vette built to a price? Yes. Is the Audi interior clearly a couple of cuts above? Certainly (and it should be for 120K). But I didn't see any assembly gaffs in the C6, like misfit panels, wavy carpet, loose threads, etc. And the leather dash trim option makes it nicer still, which mine didn't have. Now with that said, I think they should have cranked up the swank factor and redone the interior for the ZR1, particularly the seats, because it's a good (not great) interior for a $50K near-supercar but not so great and bordering on unacceptable for a $100K real supercar, even if it's actually faster around the 'Ring than other $200K supercars. Let's see what C7 brings--based on the overall GM trend in interiors (CTS being the best example) I think it's safe to expect a big leap forward.
