Video: Cadillac CTS-V vs. Audi S4 Quattro – Top Gear
DESCRIPTION:
Clarkson starts this episode off by telling us about some of the cars that Cadillac has made over the years. The first Cadillacs were "big black stuff with running boards for gangsters to stand on", then they made large pink cars with pink cars, then they made slushmobiles for old ladies in Florida, and now they have created a new sports sedan - the CTS-V. It is powered by the same V8 engine out of the Chevrolet Corvette, making 400 BHP. It posts a 0-60MPH time of 4.3 seconds and NO electronic limiter; because of the lack of a limiter, Jeremy starts out by finding out the top speed of the CTS-V.
We see some of the interior features, such as the buttons that are all written in English. He shows us how the car will chime in almost every situation; such as when you take off the seatbelt, open the door, or turn on the ignition.
Then we get to the real point - the handling. Clarkson says that the CTs-V was developed at the famous Nurburgring in Germany. Supposedly this car has European handling because of this but Jeremy does not believe this at first, so they will pit the Cadillac against another sedan with a V8 engine - an Audi S4. Check out the video to see if the Stig can beat the Cadillac around the track!
After giving the car rave reviews, Clarkson goes over some of the lesser points. He says that it is too big, expensive, and the gearbox is inferior... also it chimes. Also, for some reason the car just feels somewhat cheap. Check out the surprising tip they have at the end for potential Cadillac buyers!
