Chip Foose, the now famous Hot Rod Guru, sees his sixteen year dream realized in his own Foose Coupe. WebridesTV brings you behind the scenes at Metalcrafters with the Chip Foose Coupe Super Car. Dubbed the Hemisfear for it's 392 HEMI SEFI crate motor, the coupe is Chip's vision of a completely uncompromised modern hot rod. This beast delivers 540 horsepower and 490 ft-lbs of torque.
Metalcrafters and Chip teamed up to bring his dreams to reality. Metalcrafters is a well known company here in Fountain Valley California and is run by the Gaffoglio family and Mike Alexander. In business for almost 28 years now, Metalcrafters has been building concept cars and preproduction concepts for ages. Foose and Metalcrafters agreed to make 50 of these roadsters and sell them to anyone that wanted one. Base price on this Foose dream is $298,000. This Hemisfear may actually be referred to as the Foose Coupe because of a legal bickering by DaimlerChrysler because of the use of the word “Hemi.”
A look inside at the interior just adds to all the high tech eye candy details this ride already has. It incorporates an instrument panel that is inspired by Foose’s favorite Oakley watch and enough carbon to make your head spin.
The Hemisfear was officially designed in 1990 when Foose was attending design school at the Art Center. This design was unveiled at the 2006 SEMA show and showed its similarities to the Plymouth Prowler. The Prowler itself was inspired by Foose’s Hemisfear.
Foose has won a long list of awards for his projects, cars and his long history in the industry. Some of these include 7 “America’s Most Beautiful Roadster” awards, 3 Detroit Autorama Ridler awards, and has won the Good Guys Street Rod of the Year Award 5 times.
Foose started his own design company in Huntington Beach California. Before this, he worked for famous Hot Rodder Boyd Coddington. He prides himself on his creations and has attained worldwide acclaim for them. His fame was increased when TLC approached him to help them with the Overhaulin’ show. In addition to this, he still is a design consultant for the Big Three automakers.
