A spokesman for Lamborghini shows off a Lamborghini Gallardo which was customized through Lamborghini’s customization program and a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Versace Edition.
The Lamborghini Gallardo is available with a 5.0 Liter V10 engine mated to either a traditional six speed manual transmission or a six speed single clutch semi automatic gearbox which is called “E-Gear”. The two door coupe version was initially available and the two door spyder version was introduced later on in production. The Gallardo does not have scissor doors unlike its bigger brother the Murcielago.
Scissor doors are also named jackknife doors, switchblade doors, or Lamborghini doors. These doors are most commonly known from the Lamborghini Countach, Lamborghini Diablo, and the Lamborghini Murcielago. The wide nature of these cars requires that their doors open upwards rather than outwards.
Luc Donckerwolke is credited with the design of the Lamborghini Gallardo which has a MSRP of just $185,000 to $223,000 for the coupe and $201,000 to $263,000 for the spyder.
There have been a number of special edition Lamborghini Gallardo models. The Gallardo SE has a black roof in a two toned color scheme with “Callisto” wheels and special edition Pirelli tires. It features faster steering and higher transmission gear ratios and a launch control mode. These models are also distinguishable by their two toned interiors that match the exterior bodywork.
The Gallardo Nera is a special edition with a powertrain configuration that is identical to the ordinary Gallardo. This edition was heavily customized using the same program used to customize the Gallardo shown in the WebridesTV video.
The Gallardo Superleggera is a lighter and more powerful version designed to compete with Ferarri’s F430 Scuderia. It is lighter by 150 lbs and has an extra 10 horsepower. The production run of the Gallardo Superleggera lasted only one year.
The LP540 Lamborghini Gallardo is available with a 5.2 Liter V10 with FSI direct injection which boosts the power output to 552 Horsepower and 398 foot pounds of torque. It also has a lighter transmission and some exterior updates.
