The Civic Tour started off with humble beginnings with 2001 being it’s inaugural year. That year Blink 182 was the headlining band promoting their album Take off your pants and jacket. In addition to blink 182 other opening bands included Alkaline Trio, No Motive, and Sum41. The second half of the Civic tour was Headlined by the band Everclear supported by American Hi-Fi, Head Automatica, and The Mayfield Four. In addition to the music The Civic Tour has been less about cars then a lot of other events but the objective of the events is to get great bands to the people while showing off Honda at the same time.
This year Panic At the disco is the headlining band. As Tom Peyton the marketing manager for Honda said “this tour has done a fantastic job of getting great leading edge talent, and helping to keep our products (Honda) young”. Panic! At the Disco played an acoustic set started off by an introduction from Mark Hoppus formerly of Blink 182 now of +44. After playing a few songs Mark came out to introduce with Panic! At the Disco “their” Honda Hybrid.
The car in question was a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid covered in eco-esque designs with various other exterior and interior modifications that promoted both the band and the environment at the same time. The 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid boasts 42mpg which is also supposed to be good for the environment. Inside is a completely custom interior with red leather seats and custom painting on the dash door panels and other places as well. One of the more unique things about this Honda Civic Hyrbid is that it has a clockin the headliner permanently set to 9 in the afternoon to represent Pani! At the Disco’s newest single “9 in the afternoon”.
The Civic Tour has through the years promoted good for the environment and music industry and will continue to do so as the years go by. We all look forward to the next Civic Tour to see what will be in store both in for both music and automotive people.
