In this Webridestv video, we get an exclusive first look at the Suzuki Kizashi concept from the Frankfurt Auto Show. The Kizashi is a four door hatchback concept, featuring a slammed stance and hammered top. The ultra low Kizashi sits only a few inches above the ground, a strong departure in design from other hatchbacks. This gives the Kizashi the look of a stretched low-rider, a look seldom seen outside the hot rod world.
The hot rod design cues end there however, as the front end looks like it came straight out of a sci-fi film. Sharply angled headlights configured in a curving V shape illuminate the front end vertically from top to bottom and then outwards to the sides towards the top. The blue/white LED's stacked in this configuration give the Kizashi an unmistakable profile at night. In contrast to the wine red paint and ultra clear lights, the center black grill piece dominates the front end, filling the space between the lights with a dark abyss.
Bulging body lines and smooth slowing shapes sweep across the Kizashi, camouflaging all door gaps and panel connections. Large wheels contrast sharply with the ultra low body and low side glass. The side windows themselves feature an aggressive sweep, ending in sharp points and giving the appearance of being a single piece of glass. Framed in chrome, the ultra dark tint mirrors the color scheme of the front grill. Under the hood, this hot hatch is powered by a four cylinder turbo diesel or an available 300-horsepower naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter V-6.
Coupled to the power plant is a 6 speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. An available all wheel drive option and a curb weight of only 3000lbs gives the Kizashi a competitive edge over other sport hatches like the VW GTI R32 and the Mazda 3. Another competitive edge over other options is the price, as most experts think the Kizashi, would be modestly priced in the 25-30K range. In addition to the hatchback/wagon version unveiled in Frankfurt, Suzuki announced that three versions of the Kizashi would be produced; a sedan, CUV, and the wagon version that was shown.
